Our Story
Teaching Colts Neck to dance since 1995
After dancing professionally around the world, CND Founder, Sheri Ladley-Calamusa, found home in Colts Neck. She knew she wanted to lay down roots and raise a family of her own but couldn’t imagine life without dance. She saw a gap in the community and decided she would be the one to fill it.
In July of 1995, Colts Neck Dance and Performing Arts Academy was born. Its first location, a small one-room studio opened next to the Colts Neck Post Office - and news spread quickly! It wasn’t long before the classroom was full, the stereo was booming, and parents filled the waiting room - sitting in the iconic, vintage theatre seats you’ll still find in the lobby today.
Since that day, our one-room studio became two, new faces became family, and thousands of students have left their legacy. 28 recitals, countless competitions, and endless memories and friendships have been made.
As the dance world continues to evolve, CND strives to remain constant through it all. Our goal is to provide new, cutting-edge dance education in an environment that feels like home. As you walk our halls, our hope is that you’ll feel grounded by mementos of years passed, but also inspired to leave your own special mark.
